We will have visitors from 8:00 AM til 10:30 AM to read a book of their choice, or one that is provided. Our Elementary School celebrated Black History Month with a vibrant and nuanced program that followed slavery, segregation, and freedom. Our students performed skits depicting Rosa Parks and the Alabama Bus Boycott, as well as Harriet Tubman and her journey via the Underground Railroad. Our Dance Troupe performed an inspirational dance and there was a thoughtful monologue by Patricia Johnson. This yearly tradition reminds us of the sacrifices and struggles of our ancestors, the triumphs and victories of our predecessors, and the responsibilities and privileges we have today.

One of our classes at AFES enjoyed an unforgettable trip to the safari, where learning came to life! The adventure began with a wagon ride across more than 400 acres of open land, where students observed zebras, ostriches, camels, and bison roaming freely. They also explored a walk-through petting zoo featuring smaller farm animals like sheep and goats. The experience concluded with an up-close encounter at the giraffe overlook and a stroll to see the kangaroos, lemurs, and other wildlife. The students enjoyed a day of nature, discovery, and hands-on learning!
