We wrapped up Read Across America Week at our elementary school with Book Character Day! Students had the opportunity to dress up as their favorite book characters and bring a copy of their beloved book to share. To end our community read aloud series, Superintendent Dr. Cave read aloud to a class from each grade level. The read aloud was streamed to all the classrooms so everyone could hear the story of Be You, a reminder to children that being yourself is the best and only way to be!
Our Community Read Aloud Day was a success! Students at our elementary school enjoyed hearing stories from college athletes, district staff, community members and more! A special thanks to Ms. Latosia Gibson from South Carolina State University who closed out the day with a reading of You Are Enough for our first grade classes. After her reading, she graciously gave out bookmarks, fun hats, and a copy of Hannah and Dexter, a book about inclusion written by a local author. We are so grateful to everyone who came out to read to our children and helped us spread the power of literacy!
Today we celebrate the dedicated bus drivers who safely transport our students each and every day. Rain or shine, through early mornings and long afternoons, they show up with care and commitment. Thank you for being a steady and trusted presence in our students’ daily routines. Your role is pivotal to the success of our schools, and we truly appreciate all the hard work you put in!

We look forward to hearing your enthusiastic voices from 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM as you help make this a special day for our students.
