Allendale-Fairfax Elementary School

The rising 6th graders visited Allendale-Fairfax Middle School, where they were welcomed by Principal Dr. Dandy, staff, and students. The students were able to ask questions about the school, complete a student-led tour, and meet teachers and staff. They were engaged with a scavenger hunt and Kahoot game, and left feeling more prepared for the transition to the middle school.

Tomorrow at 9:00 AM the Allendale-Fairfax Middle School will be hosting the rising 6th graders. There will be a walking tour and panel discussion to make the transition from elementary to middle school easier for our scholars.

Greeting families! We're having our iReady pep rally tomorrow! We're asking students to wear a shirt in their HOUSE color along with their uniform bottom (see attachment). In addition, we have PTO/SIC Meeting tomorrow, April 9 at 5:30 pm. Join us! Thanks and goodnight.

Parents and Guardians, for clarification our students will be in school during the Solar Eclipse. Our teachers have coordinated learning activities in honor of this celestial event. If a teacher chooses to take their class outside for the eclipse, appropriate safety glasses will be distributed. We will continue to extend learning opportunities of the highest quality while ensuring our students are safe at all times.

Don't forget that the meeting for the parents of students going to the 5th grade is on April 10th at 5:30pm in the AFES Main Cafeteria. Come out so that we can help you make the transition from elementary to middle school easy.

The Steel Drum Band gave a preview show at our March Board/Community Meeting. The group of elementary students is led by Kimberly Roberts and her assistant, Tiffany Ambroise. This program is part of our arts integration initiative and is funded by grants. Recently, we were awarded the Hootie and the Blowfish Grant sponsored by the Central Carolina Community Foundation. This donation will allow the program to update their equipment and invite additional members. We can't wait to see their next performance in April!

If your child is transitioning from the 4th to 5th grade, we would like to invite you to a meeting on April 10th, 2024 at 5:30pm. During this meeting we will provide you with important information and listen to your concerns as a parent. So, please come out to make the transition more smooth.

Please join us for our March Board/Community Meeting on Monday, March 25th at 6:00 PM in the Allendale-Fairfax Elementary School Gymnasium. During this meeting, we will have the Superintendent's Operational Updates, Finance Report, Purchasing Policy Review, plus a special performance by the Steel Drum Band!

Today is the last day to register your student for Intercession. March 25-26th will be Intersession Days for students identified as needing assistance. Intercession is a great learning opportunity and reduces instructional gaps. Parents, we highly encourage that you send your children so they can get the educational supplement they need in order to be successful.

Students remember that tomorrow kicks off Anti-Bullying Week! From March 18th-March 21st Allendale County Schools will be "Peacing Out to Bullying." Students can wear themed attire outlined below to spread awareness and put a stop to bullying. Monday, March 18th: 70's/Tie Dye (Peace Out to Bullying) Tuesday, March 19th: Hats (Hats Off to Bullying) Wednesday, March 20th: Twin with your friends or bring them a gift (Friendship Day) Thursday, March 21st: Orange Tops (Day of Unity)

Please be reminded that tomorrow night Allendale-Fairfax Elementary School will be hosting a STEM Night from 5:30-7:00 PM. Parents and students, please join us for a night of activities, games, and prizes related to Science, Engineering, Technology, and or Math. We hope to see you there!

Parents of 3K, 4K, and Kindergarten students, registration for the 2024-2025 school year will start in two days on March 13th. If your child is currently in our 3K and 4K programs, you will need to re-register your child for the upcoming 4K and 5K programs next school year. You will be required to pick up a registration packet to complete. Incomplete packets will not be accepted!

To celebrate Read Across America Week, Allendale-Fairfax Elementary School hosted a reading marathon where the students enjoyed read alouds. Teachers, staff, and members of the community participated, including our very own, Superintendent Dr. Cave.
