Allendale-Fairfax Elementary School is proud to highlight our September Students of the Month in our latest YouTube video! Each month, AFES chooses a character word and honors Tigers who best embody it. This month’s word is responsibility, and five students share what it means to them. We want to showcase our 20 Students of the Month chosen by their teachers, for modeling the “Tiger Way” and living out our 4 B’s: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Ready to Learn, and Be Safe. We are so proud that two of our paraeducators, Ms. Calhoun and Ms. Hightower, were selected to participate in the Center's EPIC Registered Apprenticeship. While attending the event, they both soaked up knowledge and expressed their passion for teaching. Ms. Hightower was awarded a copy of "Oh the Places You'll Go" by Dr. Seuss because her reason for joining the program was so compelling! After completing one year of the program, they will eligible to gain educator certification through an alternative certification program and serve as the teacher of record! The program is no-cost, and all interested paraeducators are welcome to apply. For more information, please contact Ms. Tonya Davis, district liaison.
