Thank you to all the students, teachers, administrators, and honored guests who participated and attended Thursday's Black History program. This event was a showcase of black culture and art and was the perfect ending to Black History Month.

During Thursday's Black History program, several students did reenactments of historical Black figures such as James Brown, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Barack Obama, and Rosa Parks.

Our Elementary School held a Black History Program. Students performed speeches, songs, and dances to commemorate individuals who used their art to combat resistance and racism.

We appreciate all the students, families, teachers, administrators, and community partners who participated and attended the MLK Jr. Oratory Competition. A special thanks to Mrs. Audrey Patterson for putting this event together. We also want to acknowledge JLP Graphix, Rene' Williams-Hale, and D.T.H. Protective Service L.L.C. for sponsoring this event. Our MLK Jr. Oratory Competition showcased 3rd- 5th grade students. Each contestant gave a moving speech and emotional performance. Final reminder that this evening we will be holding the annual MLK Jr. Oratory Competition at 6:00 PM in the Allendale-Fairfax Multipurpose Room. In honor of the legendary Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., 3rd-5th grade students will present speeches with the overarching theme of "Making the Dream a Reality." This event is open to the public and is a great way to celebrate Black history.

We are hosting a virtual parenting workshop series on March 4-5, March 11-12 and March 18-19. Those who attend at least 5 or the 6 workshops will attend graduation and will be entered to win a $50 gift card. The students of the parents who graduate from the cohort will also receive an ice cream party. This is win-win for both parents and students so please attend our 3-week parenting series.

A reminder that the annual MLK Jr. Oratory Competition will be next week on February 28th at 6:00 PM in the Allendale-Fairfax Multipurpose Room. 3rd-5th grade students will deliver speeches based on this year's theme, "Making the Dream a Reality." We would like to invite the entire community to attend this event and celebrate Black history.

Tiger Fans join us at the third round of Basketball Playoffs tomorrow at Military Magnet Academy. The game starts at 6:30 PM and admission is $8. Your support is needed so please show up for our Lady Tigers! Please be advised that there is a clear bag policy and no outside food or drinks are allowed.

Happy SRO Appreciation Day to officers Sergeant Terry Hall, Lieutenant Tremaine Manuel-Cohen, and Deputy Woodrow Jones . These individuals maintain a safe environment for our students and staff. We are so grateful for our partnership with the Allendale County Sheriff's Department.

The annual MLK Jr. Oratory Competition will be held on February 28th at 6:00 PM in the Allendale-Fairfax Multipurpose Room . This year's theme will be "Making the Dream a Reality" and will showcase 3rd-5th grade students. Please join us to champion our students and commemorate an important national figure during Black History Month.

Ministers in Action: Pastors with a Presence is a group of local ministers who have volunteered to become mentors for our students. They held a roundtable discussion to hear ideas and input from students and administrators alike. Together they were able to develop a innovative solution to address issues both in the classroom and at home. We hope that this program will bridge a gap and provide additional support for our students so that they can succeed in life. They will begin having a presence in our schools beginning February 23, 2024. We are grateful for their assistance and their willingness to impact the live of our scholars.

Allendale County School District prioritizes the safety of our students. Lysol wipes were donated by Bamberg County Schools and will be sent home with each student to prevent the spread of germs. As we enter Flu Season, here are some important tips to follow: -Make sure that all of your child’s vaccinations are up-to-date, especially the flu shot. -Teach your child to wash their hands properly by using warm water and soap for 15 to 20 seconds. -Prevent your child from spreading their germs by keeping them home from school and other activities when they are sick. -Sanitize your home and other shared surfaces regularly with a good disinfectant at least once a week during flu season.

Parents and Guardians, it is important that your child(ren) attend school to avoid truancy. Please take a moment to review this flyer to learn about truancy and how to avoid it. Vanessa Badger is the truancy officer for Allendale County Schools. She is excited to work with our students and their families as the district strives to make regular school attendance a priority.

Today we will be having our January Board Community Meeting at 6:00 PM in the AFHS Multipurpose Room. In honor of School Board Recognition Month, we will be honoring our board members. Agenda topics will include Superintendent’s Update, Continuous Improvement Plan, Financial Audit Report, and Employee/Student Recognition. We look forward to seeing you there!
